The Original Charter

BFS Archer Guard Charter

The Barony of Forgotten Sea has established the BFS Archer Guard. There will be three skill levels within the Archer Guard, each with it’s own title and color. The colors are based on the period targets that used gray, green and gold.

A period method of identification will be provided to the individuals inducted into each skill level, this being the presentation of a tassel in the appropriate color of the skill level.

Each skill level will have certain requirements for a member of the populace to be inducted into that skill level. Each skill level will have duties that are the responsibility of each individual member of that skill level. Each skill level will also have duties that are the responsibility of that skill level, as a whole.

Individuals are considered active members of their skill level if they meet and maintain the skill level requirements. Should a member be unable to maintain the requirements, they are considered to be at provisional status in that skill level until they meet the requirements. A member cannot drop in skill level.

When an individual advances to a higher skill level, they shall turn in the tassel for their previous skill level and receive the tassel for their new skill level.

Additionally, two other status positions will exist for each skill level. Honorary status will be granted to individuals who earn induction into the Archer Guard but are not members of Barony of Forgotten Sea or one of its Cantons (such as winning the Baronial Archer Championship). Emeritus status will be granted to individuals who were members of the Barony of Forgotten or one of its Cantons when they were inducted into the Archer Guard, but who have moved elsewhere since their induction (or are no longer active in the SCA).

Thus members of each skill level will be noted with the status labels of Active, Provisional, Honorary and Emeritus.

It will be the duty of the Archer Marshals of the Barony and Cantons to maintain a record of the Archer Guard and make recommendations to the Baronage for induction of individuals into the skill levels.
